Fairyhouse gets go-ahead

Racing at Fairyhouse has been given the thumbs up following a 7.30am inspection.

The forecast heavy overnight frost that had threatened the high-profile meeting failed to materialise while the fog that hung over the track during yesterday’s fixture has gone.

“We only had a slight frost on Saturday night and it didn’t get into the ground at all,” said clerk of the course Joe Collins.

“The fog has virtually disappeared. It was very murky yesterday and we were very lucky to get away with it.

“The weather forecast for today is for it to be bright and sunny and be a lovely crisp winter’s day.

“The temperature should get up to four or five and it should be a great day’s racing.”

The card is due to feature Hardy Eustace and Brave Inca in the Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle plus two other Grade Ones, the Drinmore Chase and the Royal Bond Hurdle,
