Henderson’s five-year-old, having only his fourth start over obstacles, was conceding upwards of 4lb to all of his rivals but that did not matter a jot as the imposing gelding pulled clear approaching the second last.

Barry Geraghty was motionless as his mount eased clear and the 7-1 chance beat the well-backed Ballydub by three and a half lengths.

“That was very good,” said Geraghty.

“He travelled well, he settled and he jumped brilliantly

“I was hoping he was straight enough on his first start but he had a bit left.

“You’d like to think he’d improve for that so he’s definitely one for the future.”
