Green okayed for Champion bid

Turpin Green is on course to return to action in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday.

The nine-year-old, who was third in the 2007 Cheltenham Gold Cup, has been out through injury since finishing alone in the Edward Hanmer Chase at Haydock in December.

“All being well he’ll be there. He seems in grand fettle, so we’re looking forward to it,” said trainer Nicky Richards.

“He got a little injury after Haydock last year and we couldn’t run him again but he’s in good nick.

“He’s looking well and he worked last Saturday. Davy Condon was very pleased with him. He seems to be in great form with himself.”
