Ayr make morning check

Ayr will have to pass a 7.30am inspection tomorrow if Friday’s meeting is to go ahead.

The ground at the track is already heavy and clerk of the course Katherine Self admits the meeting is in the balance with more rain forecast.

“Although we are due a dry day today, the forecast is for some bad weather tomorrow and more rain,” she said.

“We have had 37 millimetres of rain since last Friday with 18mm of that coming last night, so the ground is pretty saturated and we would be borderline today.

“We will take a look in the morning and hopefully make a decision as with where we are, we wouldn’t want people setting off on a long trip unneccessarily.”
