Ennis finishes 12th at Lion D'Angers

Ireland had two riders finish in the top 20 of the World Championships for young eventing horses in the six year-old class at Lion d'Angers, France today.

Ireland had two riders finish in the top 20 of the World Championships for young eventing horses in the six year-old class at Lion d'Angers, France today.

In both the six and seven year-old competitions a total of six Irish-bred horses claimed top 20 placings.

Sarah Ennis was best of the Irish riders in the six year-old class, taking 12th place overall after a clear show jumping test with Miriam Cunning's bay Porsch gelding 'Sugar Brown Babe'.

Sam Watson finished in 17th aboard the Puissance gelding 'Marlboro Man', which is owned by the rider along with Stephen Lanigan O’Keeffe and John Watson.

Second place in the six year-old class went to British rider Pippa Funnell on the Irish-bred 'Landretti', while in the seven year-old competition another British rider, Polly Stockton, took fourth with the Irish gelding 'Westwood Mariner'.

Irish-bred horses also finished in 11th place (New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson on Cruising gelding 'Mr Cruise Control') and 16th (Australia's Sam Griffiths with 'Motion Bound').
