Wingwalker set for break

Wingwalker has more than likely run his final race of the campaign after disappointing in the Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket last week.

Henry Cecil's Dansili colt was prominent in the betting for next year's Stan James UK 2000 Guineas prior to his outing at Headquarters, where he raced keenly and dropped away in the closing stages to finish fifth of the seven runners.

Wingwalker still holds Group One entries this autumn but Cecil is contemplating putting him away until next spring.

He said: "He ran his race before he got down to the start and, until I am happy with him, then I wouldn't think about running him again."

Jockey Tom Queally added: "He is still very immature and while he was keen to post, I think he possibly has just had enough for the season.

"He ran way below the level he ran to at Sandown and depending on how he winters, he will be one to look forward to next year."
