Loco delights in Cambridgeshire spin

Leading totesport.com Cambridgeshire fancy Premio Loco pleased trainer Chris Wall in his final gallop before Saturday's valuable handicap.

The lightly-raced four-year-old will carry only a 4lb penalty for his cosy victory at Kempton in a well-contested affair last month.

As the Cambridgeshire was an early closing race, the gelding is officially 6lb well-in with the prospect of more improvement to come.

"He's very well, he had his final little blow this morning and that went nicely so we are all systems go for Saturday," said Wall.

"His regular work rider was on him today but George (Baker) rode him in his last serious piece of work last Friday and he was very satisfied with the way he went. I'd have to take his word for that though as at 6am that morning we couldn’t see very much!

"George said he felt in good shape and he was very happy with how he was going so fingers crossed.

"He must be one of the more lightly-raced runners in the field, some of the three-year-olds might have had fewer runs but of his own generation I shouldn’t think there is anything as lightly-raced as him – we hope there’s more to come.

"I've just walked the track this morning and I can’t find very much good about it, I’d say it’s pretty firm.

"We may get a bit of rain yet but it would take a lot of rain to get it to the point where I wouldn't run the horse and although we are forecast showers, we are not forecast heavy rain.

"All we need now is luck with the draw, luck in running – we just need fortune to favour us and if that happens then we’ll have a chance."

Premio Loco is 10-1 with Paddy Powerl for Saturday’s race.
