Thursday's meeting at Ayr has been placed in some doubt with a 7.30am inspection called for tomorrow after more rain at the track.

After the three-day Ayr Gold Cup meeting, the ground is struggling to cope with more wet weather.

Clerk of the course Katherine Self said: "Unfortunately, we've had more rain than expected on what was already heavy ground.

"We are waterlogged in places but the forecast is for it to clear up and be drier tonight with blustery conditions which we would need.

"It's more sensible to let people know where we stand and we will know more tomorrow.

"There is a possibility that we will look again after tomorrow but we wanted to let people know as soon as possible."
