River Proud suffers fatal collapse at Longchamp
The Prix du Prince d'Orange at Longchamp was marred by the death of Paul Cole's River Proud.
Oliver Peslier had cut out much of the running on the three-year-old but he was struggling in the straight and tragically collapsed and died.
Never On Sunday claimed the Group Three heat for Jean-Claude Rouget, with Russian Cross second.
Mick Channon's Canwinn was also in action in the Group Three Prix des Chenes, finishing third behind Calvados Blues under Peslier.
