Captain leads by example
British raiders were out of luck in the Prix du Pin at Longchamp, with Andre Fabre’s Captain’s Lover landing the spoils under Stephane Pasquier.
The four-year-old filly was making her first start in France, having learned her trade in her native South Africa, and raced to a three-quarter-length success.
David Nicholls’ Garnica set a strong pace up front but folded inside the closing stages as Captain’s Lover took over.
Fabre’s charge ran on well to the line, with Garnica fading into sixth.
