Yeats leads Cup contenders

Triple Ascot Gold Cup winner Yeats is among 15 possible runners for Friday’s GNER Doncaster Cup at the Yorkshire track.

Aidan O’Brien’s seven-year-old sealed a third win at the Royal meeting in June before going on to claim a bloodless victory in the Goodwood Cup.

Yeats has not run in Doncaster’s two-mile-two-furlong feature before and stablemate Honolulu in also in the frame for the Group Two heat.

Godolphin’s Sagara finished third at Goodwood and he could try his luck again while last year’s Doncaster third Allegretto is a possible runner for Sir Michael Stoute.

Michael Jarvis’ Royal And Regal, the Luca Cumani-trained Sanbuch and Simon Callaghan’s Finalemente are some of the other eyecatching possibles.

Baddam, Balkan Knight, Bulwark, Carte Diamond, Dolly Penrose, Juniper Girl, Shahin and Winged D’Argent are the other entries.
