Natagora on Moulin trail
Both Newmarket’s Guineas winners could meet at Longchamp this Sunday with Natagora remaining in contention for the Prix du Moulin – also the likely target for Henrythenavigator.
Christophe Lemaire is expected to renew his acquaintance with Pascal Bary’s flying French filly, having ridden her in the 1000 Guineas and in most of her two-year-old races.
Lemaire was required to ride Arcadia’s Angle on Natagora’s last outing in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville but under the command of Yutaka Take she bounced back from a slightly disappointing effort at the track two weeks earlier with an excellent second to Tamayuz.
Aidan O’Brien’s Henrythenavigator, hero of the English and Irish 2000 Guineas, St James’s Palace and Sussex Stakes, continues to plot exactly the same course as the trainer’s Rock Of Gibraltar in 2002 by heading for the Moulin.
O’Brien is only watchful of conditions not being too testing in Paris and Natagora’s team have the same thoughts.
Patrick Barbe, racing manager to the grey’s owner Stefan Friborg, said: “We have left her in the Moulin and she is a possibility to run as long as the ground is not too soft.
“She is in very good condition and Christophe Lemaire should ride.”
