Laa Rayb stars in Deauville
Laa Rayb notched his first Group-race success in the Prix Quincey Lucien Barriere at Deauville.
Mark Johnston’s four-year-old was always close to the pace in the mile contest and went to the front three furlongs from home.
The 5-1 chance quickly stole a couple of lengths on the rest of the field and only had to be kept up to his work by Royston Ffrench to score readily from Athanor.
Godolphin inmate Calming Influence was sent off favourite but failed to pick up from the rear and trailed home last.
