Doctor Dino warms up for an ambitious globetrotting campaign with a run in the Lucien Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville over an extended mile and a half on Sunday.

The six-year-old, trained in France by Richard Gibson, won the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin last December and a return trip to the former British colony is on the cards – preceded by the Canadian International at Woodbine in October.

ā€œHe’s already here in Deauville. The horse is in good shape and this is a good prep race for his international campaign,ā€ said Chantilly-based Gibson.

ā€œI don’t think he’s going for the Arc. It’s more likely to be the Canadian International followed by Hong Kong.ā€

Doctor Dino was third behind the Mick Channon-trained Youmzain in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on his latest start two months ago – three and a half lengths, and two places, ahead of Getaway.

Andre Fabre’s charge reopposes and will be ridden by Frankie Dettori.

An eight-strong field is completed by Loup Breton, Candy Gift, Sommertag, Magadino, Avanti Polonia and Poseidon Adventure.
