Heaven picks up Irish scent

Connections are mulling over which race in Ireland to aim Heaven Sent in the next couple of weeks.

The Michael Stoute-trained mare holds entries in the Group One Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week and the Group Two Irish National Stud Blandford Stakes at the Curragh a week later.

“We’re not sure about her going for the Matron Stakes yet. We’re just considering the Blandford Stakes as another option for her,” said Chris Richardson, managing director of owner-breeders the Cheveley Park Stud.

“We might wait an extra week and go there, but we’ll see. Things are up in the air a little bit.”

Heaven Sent’s biggest success to date came in the Group Three Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket in May – although she has performed creditably at the highest level on her last two starts, finishing third in the Falmouth Stakes and a close fourth in the Nassau Stakes.
