Swinburn weighs up Stotsfold target
Walter Swinburn is weighing up the options for Stotsfold following his victory in the Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor on Saturday night.
The five-year-old was registering his first victory of the season having been campaigned solely in Group company of late and Swinburn believes his charge was not winning out of turn.
Although the trainer has no definite target in mind, he will be scanning the entry book to find another suitable opportunity.
“I was delighted with Stotsfold at the weekend and he was certainly due a win in a decent race,” said Swinburn.
“We’re going to sit down and have a look through the entries tomorrow and hopefully we will find something suitable.
“There are plenty of things in the pipeline but nothing definite at this stage.”
His stablemate Staying On has not been seen in racecourse action since chasing home Collection in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot, but Swinburn is eyeing a trip to Goodwood for the colt.
“He had a break after Ascot and we were really pleased with his run there,” Swinburn continued.
“He was due to run in the Strensall Stakes at York but obviously that was rained off so he is now going to run in the Select Stakes on September 14.
“He has been in great form recently so hopefully he everything goes to plan between now and Goodwood.”
