Newton Abbot's meeting has been given the go-ahead after an early-morning precautionary inspection.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore staged a second check at 7am, having previously assessed conditions on Monday afternoon, and was able to deliver positive news.

The Devon venue, who also race on Wednesday, was dry overnight and is now soft, heavy and places.

Loosemore said: "We had 8mm rain through the course of Monday, but things were fine last night so we are fit for racing.

"There is a band of rain moving, however, in so I'm not so sure yet where that puts us for Wednesday's meeting."
