Pontefract abandoned

This afternoon’s meeting at Pontefract has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

Heavy overnight rain forced an impromptu early morning inspection and clerk of the course Norman Gundill was forced to call off the fixture.

He said: “We have had an inch of rain since 1am and we were only forecast six millimetres.

“We have had a total of 82mm this week and there are areas of standing water on the track in three or four places.”
