Rosabee given a break

Vicky Haigh is to give her stable star Rosabee a short break having been forced to miss Saturday’s Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket.

The Princess Margaret Stakes runner-up was well-fancied for the Newmarket Group Three but suffered a slight setback on the morning of the race.

Haigh now admits that it was a blessing in disguise after seeing John Gosden’s Rainbow View bolt up but is looking towards a back-end campaign with her bargain buy.

“She’s out in the paddock with my daughter’s pony, she’s going to have three weeks rest and she’ll come back for the end of the season,” said Haigh.

“I think we’ll try and avoid going where Rainbow View does after the way she won yesterday!

“I think it was a blessing we had to miss the race and things happen for a reason.

“I’m not sure what she actually did but one of her fetlocks was swollen, she might have knocked it having a roll in her box or it could have happened during her last race.

“It was nothing serious, we’ve had it properly checked out with her being so valuable, but I’ve decided to let her have an easy three weeks in the paddock and she deserves it.

“We’ll bring her back for the back-end and we might try and win a Listed race with her as the Group races tend to be so competitive.”
