This afternoon’s meeting at the Curragh has fallen victim to the weather with the course found to be waterlogged after an inspection.

Course officials looked at the condition of the track at 7.30am but the result of a day of rain yesterday left them with no choice.

“Unfortunately it’s been cancelled, which is a real shame because it was a cracking card,” said Cliff Noone, press officer for the Irish Turf Club.

“The course is waterlogged in places and there is nothing they can do about it.

“We had a lot of rain, it was a deluge yesterday and there have been more showers overnight.”

Three Group races had been due to take place, the Phoenix Sprint Stakes, the Debutante Stakes and the Royal Whip.
