Sunday’s meeting at Cork is in serious doubt after a nearby river burst its banks, leaving the track completely flooded.

Although an official inspection has not yet been called, Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone believes conditions will have to improve significantly if the card is to go ahead.

“The situation is that they are going to monitor things, but the River Blackwater has burst its banks and the track is flooded,” said Noone.

“It is obviously unraceable at present, but the thing with Cork is the water can recede very quickly and it can dry up fast.

“I would imagine they will call an inspection as things need to improve a lot.”
