Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore kicked off their Glorious Goodwood week in fine fashion when 10/1 shot Gulf Express comfortably landed the Bank Of Scotland Investment Service Stakes.

The four-year-old quickened up in fine style to make a mockery of his handicap mark as he passed every one of his 16 rivals in the straight.

Walter Swinburn's Pinpoint chased him home and was slightly hampered by the winner but was one and a quarter lengths down at the line.

Moore told Channel 4 Racing: "As soon as we got to the front he went right but I couldn't really put my stick down as I would have had to stop riding.

"It was a bit unfortunate but he was the best horse in the race and he showed his class.

"I dropped him out because we were drawn three and I just had to wait for the gaps and luckily they came."
