Muthabara on Nassau trail
John Dunlop reports Muthabara to be thriving as the one-time Classic hope limbers up for a first crack at a mile and a quarter in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes at the beginning of next month.
After overcoming a poor mid-race position, she knuckled down to win a Guineas trial at Newbury before occupying eighth place in the fillies’ Classic when still behind in her coat.
Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s daughter of Red Ransom has raced just the once since when an encouraging fifth at Royal Ascot.
Dunlop said: “She is in very good shape and I hope to get her to the Nassau on the Saturday of Glorious Goodwood.
“She seems very well so all we need now is some cut in the ground, so I hope Seamus (Buckley, clerk of the course) is looking after our interests!”
