Nahoodh has Deauville date
Mark Johnston’s impressive Falmouth Stakes heroine Nahoodh is to be aimed at the Prix Rothschild at Deauville on August 3.
Formerly the Prix d’Astarte, the one-mile event was elevated to Group One status in 2004 and has been won by the likes of Darjina, Mandesha and Divine Proportions in recent years.
Johnston has only had Nahoodh for a couple of months but after an initial introductory period, the grey filly confirmed the promise of her unlucky run in the Guineas at Newmarket with a smart performance on the July Course.
“She came out of the race absolutely fine,” said Johnston.
“She’ll be entered tomorrow for the Prix d’Astarte (Prix Rothschild) and that is likely to be her next race.
“She travels very well in her races so we have options with her but I think we’ll be keeping her to between seven furlongs and a mile.
“I wouldn’t think we’d be dropping her back to six furlongs.”
