Dune lands Newmarket punt
Red Dune verified the market buzz with an impressive front-running performance to get a drizzly Newmarket July Festival underway.
Sent off the 11-8 favourite for the EBF Fillies’ Handicap, she was head-strong under Philip Robinson but steadily brought all her rivals off the bridle.
Robinson started to scrub her along entering the final furlong and the progressive daughter of Red Ransom took control to win by three-quarters of a length from Just Like A Woman.
“She’s a speedy filly and she may go to the Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood,” said trainer Michael Jarvis.
