O'Connor wins last chance at Aachen

Cian O'Connor chalked up Ireland's second weekend win at the five-star show in Aachen, Germany this morning with a three-fifths of a second victory over British ace John Whitaker in the 'Last Chance' 1m 45 class.

Called 'Last Chance' because it's the last competition of the weekend festival before the Grand Prix, this morning's contest saw O'Connor pilot Stephen O'Connor's Dutch-bred bay gelding 'Splendour' across the line ahead of the Irish-bred 'Casino' ridden by Whitaker.

Former World Cup winner Marcus Ehning took third place on 'Sabrina'.
