Deauville date for Myboycharlie

Connections of Myboycharlie are mulling over the options after the colt was a late withdrawal due to the ground at Ascot on Saturday.

The three-year-old, who has had just one run this season, was pulled out of the Golden Jubilee Stakes due to the quick conditions at the Berkshire track.

“I walked the track at Ascot and felt that the ground was a bit quicker on the stands side and we were drawn on the wide outside in stall 20 and could have been a bit isolated,” said trainer Tommy Stack’s son and assistant Fozzy.

The three-year-old defeated subsequent 1000 Guineas winner Natagora in the Prix Morny at Deauville last summer and a return to the French track for the Prix Maurice de Gheest over six and a half furlongs on August 10 is a likely target.

“It’s possible he could run in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh next weekend but that’s over five furlongs so it’s not ideal, but he does need a run,” Stack went on.

“We want to get a run into him before his next main objective, the Maurice de Gheest at Deauville in August.”
