Machinist is set to break new ground for Jenny and Mark Pitman as he becomes the first runner for their racing club at Royal Ascot.

The eight-year-old is set to line up in Saturday's Wokingham Stakes as the former National Hunt stars begin the new venture, which encompasses a mix of horses under both codes.

"The club horses will be selected to give members the maximum opportunity of attending the races on a regular basis," explained Mark Pitman.

"This is illustrated by our first runner, Machinist, at Royal Ascot.

"He is perfect for the club as he can compete at the top meetings, runs regularly and we are convinced there is a big win in him this season."

Machinist currently sits on 9st in the Wokingham weights and was last seen finishing well out of the frame at Epsom after being left in the stalls.
