Heart Of Fire takes victory in Cork

Kevin Prendergast's Heart Of Fire ran out an impressive winner of the Kerry Spring Water Rochestown Stakes at Cork today.

Partnered by Declan McDonogh, the 3-1 chance bounced out of the stalls and made just about all the running in the six-furlong Listed contest.

Mark Wallace's British raider Spring Tale loomed up as a big threat with just over a furlong to run, but Heart Of Fire was not for passing and found more to stretch three and a half lengths clear.

Ice Queen struck a minor surprise at 14-1 in the Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien's filly finished last of all in the Juddmonte Oaks just over a week ago but bounced back in the best possible fashion by landing an ultimately comfortable win.

The majority of the runners held some sort of chance with a quarter-mile left to run, but Colm O'Donoghue soon grabbed the initiative as Ice Queen hit top gear.

She led just over a furlong from home and despite flashing her tail when in the clear, the daughter of Danehill Dancer powered on to see off Profound Beauty and Beach Bunny, who dead-heated for second one length and three-quarters away.
