Creachadoir out for season

Godolphin have been dealt a hammer blow with the news that one of their stable flagbearers, Creachadoir, is to miss the Queen Anne Stakes and the rest of the season.

Sheikh Mohammed’s operation were forced to scratch the four-year-old from next week’s Group One event after he suffered a serious leg injury.

Racing manager Simon Crisford said: “He sustained a fracture this morning when he was working.

“Unfortunately he’ll be out for the rest of the season and we haven’t made the decision whether or not to keep him in training.

“It’s a real blow as he’d worked fantastically well. He came back and he was sound and it wasn’t until he cooled down that we found he was lame. An investigation revealed the fracture.

“It’s so disappointing as he’d shown himself recently to be top-class and he was due to be our flagship horse for the Royal meeting.”

Godolphin have enjoyed great success in the Queen Anne in recent years with Intikhab, Cape Cross, Dubai Destination, Refuse To Bend and Ramonti all etching their name on the roll of honour.
