River Proud in Derby frame
River Proud has emerged as a surprise contender for Saturday’s Vodafone Derby.
The Paul Cole-trained colt was an unlucky third in the French 2000 Guineas on his last start, having to run from stall 20 following a problem with his original draw in 14.
However, with tomorrow’s supplementary stage fast approaching, the three-year-old has put himself in the picture following a recent racecourse gallop at Kempton.
“He has not been supplemented yet, but we have until midday tomorrow to decide,” said Cole, who won the big race with Generous in 1991.
River Proud has been handed a 33-1 quote by Stan James.
