Favourite-backers got off to a flying start at sun-drenched Haydock Park when 10-11 chance Fat Boy landed the opening Listed Rectangle Group Sandy Lane Stakes.

Tom Queally had the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained colt smartly out of the stalls and he made all the running to score by three-quarters of a length, sticking to his task well to keep the runner-up Tajdeef at bay.
