Mick Channon has warned punters not to discard his second string Eva’s Request in the Boylesports 1000 Guineas.

The West Ilsley trainer, also responsible for ante-post favourite Nahoodh in Sunday’s Curragh Classic, is convinced Eva’s Request is a useful filly.

“Eva’s Request runs in the Guineas and she’s won a Group Three at the Curragh,” he said.

“She’s had her prep run and ran fifth, but don’t worry, she’ll be a lot better this time.

“She’s a pretty decent filly. Everybody seems to have written her off but she’s no back number for sure.”

Channon also reported Nahoodh to be in fine fettle as she bids to make amends for an unlucky run in the English equivalent at Newmarket when fifth behind Natagora.

“She’s in good form, she’s finished her work and obviously she goes for the 1000,” he went on.

“We’re very keen to have a go at that and she’s in great form and I’ll be delighted as long as the ground’s not soft.

“She’s in great heart, she’s worked well and she’s come out of the English Guineas well so it’s full steam ahead.

“There is nothing Richard (Hughes) could have done about it. It was just one of those circumstances that he found himself on the rail and had to make the best of the situation he was in. Unfortunately it didn’t happen.

“I certainly didn’t blame Hughesy, regardless of what some people think, and it was just one of those situations that arises in racing.

“We’ve still got the filly and let’s hope we can put it right on Sunday.

“I think she thrived through to the Guineas and she’s certainly come on since so I’d be very happy,” Channon told 'At The Races'.

Meanwhile, trainer Dermot Weld is keeping an eye on the weather before committing his two hopefuls, Carribean Sunset and Mad About You.

“The plan at present is for both fillies to run but we’ll make a decision at a later date,” Weld said. “We’ll see what rain comes tonight before finalising our plans.”
