Newton Abbot set for inspection

Newton Abbot officials will stage a 6am precautionary inspection tomorrow morning to assess the prospects for Monday's meeting.

The Devon venue sustained a considerable amount of rain over the last few days, which forced clerk of the course Jason Loosemore to hold an early-morning check on Sunday.

Although the track was found to be heavy, Loosemore and his team are taking no chances.

He said: "We had more rain on Saturday but we are due a dry day today.

"We would probably still need to look again so have decided to hold a precautionary inspection."
