Godolphin has double options for Curragh
Godolphin could be doubly-represented in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday week.
Both Newmarket flop Ibn Khaldun and French Guineas runner-up Rio De La Plata are under consideration for the Boylesports-sponsored Classic.
Fresh from saddling his first winner of the season at York, trainer Saeed bin Suroor suggested that while nothing has come to light for Ibn Khaldun’s flop in the English version, he is showing all the right signs at home.
“He worked very well yesterday and we want to take him over to Ireland,” Bin Suroor said.
“Rio might go as well. He ran very well the other day to come from the back and take second.
“We will keep our options open with him and decide closer to the race.
“We could run them both, but we have been really happy with Ibn Khaldun since Newmarket.”
Bin Suroor also had news of Dewhurst runner-up Fast Company, who had to miss the Newmarket Guineas due to his blood not being right.
“Fast Company is fine now, he worked really well today but his blood wasn’t right earlier in the season.
“He is sound now and we have no problem with him, but we won’t rush him.
“Literato and Ramonti are fine now too and they will be running next month.”
