Cape seeking Haydock glory
Cape will go in search of valuable black type in the Timeform Silver Salver at Haydock on May 31.
Paul Howling’s speedy five-year-old showed a rare turn of foot when winning a competitive handicap at Doncaster on her first start of the season.
The former James Fanshawe-trained mare finished fourth on her only attempt to date in Listed company and will have another crack at that level in the race registered as the Cecil Frail Stakes.
“She’s heading for a Listed race at Haydock on the 31st, that’s the plan, we want to get black type for her if we can,” said the Newmarket handler.
“The ground was a little bit against her last time, if anything it was too deep, we could do with better ground for her.
“It would be a little on the quick side at the minute but a bit of rain would suit her down to the ground.”
