Moynahan to swerve Dante Stakes

Plans are fluid for Moynahan after Paul Cole’s colt finished a respectable sixth in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday.

The son of Johannesburg, winner of York’s Convivial Maiden Stakes as a juvenile, holds an entry in the totesport.com Dante Stakes but is unlikely to be seen in action on the Knavesmire next week.

“Moynahan has come out of the Guineas fine and he’s very well in himself,” said Oliver Cole, son and assistant to Paul.

“I think he’s run extremely well to have come from winning a maiden to finish sixth in the 2000 Guineas and I must admit we were quite excited at one point in the race.

“He’s not going to go to York for the Dante at the moment, but it’s a possibility he’ll step up in trip at some point.”
