Henry enters Derby shake-up

Henrythenavigator, winner of the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas on Saturday, could run in the Vodafone Derby on June 7.

Despite reservations in some quarters over his ability to stay a mile and a half, Epsom may now be on the Kingmambo colt's radar.

"I may have been a bit too cut and dried (on Sunday) about Henrythenavigator being a miler," said trainer Aidan O'Brien.

"The Derby is in our thoughts now.

"Everything will be taken into consideration but as far as Coolmore is concerned, the Derby is the biggest race and it is definitely not ruled out.

"Before Saturday the staff in the yard had different views about what Henry wanted - from a mile and a quarter on dirt, to him being a five- or six-furlong horse.

"But Johnny (Murtagh) was confident after the Guineas that he would get further than a mile.

"He said that although he got a bit tired in the last furlong, he galloped on past the line.

"You would expect him to come on for the run," the Ballydoyle handler told the Racing Post.
