Tungsten ready to strike at Ascot

Amanda Perrett is hoping the rain stays away as Tungsten Strike bids for back-to-back victories in the Woodcote Stud Sagaro Stakes at Ascot tomorrow.

Runner-up when the race was staged at Lingfield two years ago, Tungsten Strike defeated Baddam, a rival again tomorrow, by a length and a half when the race returned to the Berkshire track 12 months ago.

However, he is on a retrieval mission after finishing last in the Melbourne Cup in November.

“Obviously he disappointed us in Australia but he seems to have come to of it OK,” said the Pulborough trainer.

“He’s had the same preparation into the race the last three years, he’s been away to work about 10 days before the race.

“He seems in good form but I’m just a bit worried about how much rain they are going to get.

“I don’t know what the weather’s going to do but every drop of rain takes away a bit of a chance as he wants it on top.”
