Sense bows out
Sense Of Joy, a one-time leading fancy for the stanjamesuk.com 1000 Guineas, has been retired.
The John Gosden-trained filly was ruled out of the Newmarket Classic earlier this month through injury but connections had been hoping for a full recovery from the ligament problem.
However, Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, has confirmed that last year’s Prestige Stakes winner will not run again.
He said: “Unfortunately, Sense Of Joy has been retired due to what is, basically, a suspensory problem.
“It’s disappointing, obviously, but she won a Group race last season and not many fillies achieve that.
“We’d have loved her to have won a Group One this season, but it wasn’t to be and at least she’s OK to go to the paddocks, where we hope she has some lovely foals,” he told the Racing Post.
