Thebes takes Leighs opener
Temple Of Thebes earned a place in the history books by securing top honours in the inaugural event at Great Leighs, the first new British racecourse since Taunton began operating in 1927.
The Essex track, which has suffered a number of hold-ups over the past few years, was finally given a belated go-ahead on Friday.
