Moyenne Corniche enters Classic picture
Moyenne Corniche stamped his class on the Dubai International Airport Maiden Stakes over the straight mile at Newbury to earn a 40-1 quote with sponsors Stan James for the 2000 Guineas.
The race often features smart types, with subsequent St Leger winner Lucarno finishing runner-up to Diamond Tycoon 12 months ago, and Geoff Wragg’s latest winner looks right up there.
The 6-1 chance powered clear inside the final two furlongs for a four-length call over French Art.
Ladbrokes and Boylesports offer a standout 50s for the Guineas and Wragg said: “He has done that nicely and it was a good performance, although he was still a bit green.
“That will have excited the owner in Hong Kong and we will see how he comes out of the race and decide about the Guineas.”
