Orientalist Art will face 12 rivals when he seeks Italian 2000 Guineas glory in Rome on Sunday.

Peter Chapple-Hyam’s colt, second in an all-weather Listed event at the beginning of the month, will have his first taste of Group-race action in the one-mile test.

Orientalist Art, who will be partnered by Alan Munro, finished second to Luck Money on his juvenile debut in 2007 before winning his maiden at the first attempt at three.

Looking ahead to the Premio Parioli, Chapple-Hyam said: “I was very pleased with his last run as he showed a marked improvement on the form of his maiden win.

“He’ll need to have improved again for this but I think he is capable of being very competitive,” the Newmarket trainer told www.peterchapplehyam.com.

“He is likely to be best suited by good ground or faster.”
