Alexander Castle bids for Classic ticket

Alexander Castle will attempt to confirm himself a colt of real potential in the banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes at Newmarket.

Kevin Ryan’s charge won his maiden at the first time of asking in 2007 before finishing second in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

He steps up to a mile for the first time at headquarters, with Ryan keen to test the water with his stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas entry.

Ryan said: “I’m looking forward to running him and he’s in great order at the moment.

“We’ve been very happy with him at home and I’ve always wanted to run him in one of the Guineas trials.

“We had the chance of the going getting very soft at Newbury so we opted to come to Newmarket with him.

“He’s done marvellous over the winter, he’s really filled out and we’ve had a pretty clear run with him.

“It looks a good Craven but let’s find out what we’ve got.”
