Castle goes on trial

Kevin Ryan is keen to run Alexander Castle in a 2000 Guineas trial next week.

The Champagne Stakes second will either run in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket or head to Newbury for a similar event.

After winning at Newcastle on his debut the Lemon Drop Kid colt ran McCartney to two and a half lengths in the Doncaster Group Two.

“He will either go to Newmarket or Newbury,” Ryan told At The Races.

“He’s in great form at home, all he’s done is strengthen during the winter and he is much stronger now.

“His homework has been very impressive.

“He was very weak last year and we always said that anything he did as a two-year-old would be a bonus.

“But he’s grown and strengthened and he’s been working really well.”
