Castle goes on trial

Kevin Ryan is keen to run Alexander Castle in a 2000 Guineas trial next week.

The Champagne Stakes second will either run in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket or head to Newbury for a similar event.

After winning at Newcastle on his debut the Lemon Drop Kid colt ran McCartney to two and a half lengths in the Doncaster Group Two.

ā€œHe will either go to Newmarket or Newbury,ā€ Ryan told At The Races.

ā€œHe’s in great form at home, all he’s done is strengthen during the winter and he is much stronger now.

ā€œHis homework has been very impressive.

ā€œHe was very weak last year and we always said that anything he did as a two-year-old would be a bonus.

ā€œBut he’s grown and strengthened and he’s been working really well.ā€
