Medici set for Curragh contest
Mr Medici is likely to bid for a quick follow-up success in the Bank Of Ireland Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Medicean colt won at Limerick last Saturday, beating an Aidan O’Brien-trained odds-on shot in the process.
The three-year-old also finished fifth behind Luck Money in the Goffs Million last season and appears to be improving.
“He seems OK and he’s going to run as long as nothing happens between now and declaration time,” said trainer Kevin Prendergast.
“He’s in good shape. He won well but I don’t know what the opposition was. O’Brien’s horse (Greatwallofchina) is still a maiden and I don’t think he was very keen on the day.
“Ours had good form and was only beaten a couple of lengths in a Listed race last year (won by Jupiter Pluvius) and we thought he’d win but when you see a horse rated 109, you wonder who is wrong and who’s right.
“It was soft last week and it won’t be any better on Sunday. We’ve had a bit of sleet and snow and he seems better with ease in it.”
