Donald McCain has hailed Whiteoak as “just about” the best mare in the country after her near-miss against the boys at Aintree.

The five-year-old just failed to follow up her win at the Cheltenham Festival when failing to reel in Elusive Dream in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle.
