Jarvis plotting Regal campaign

Jockey Club Cup winner Royal And Regal will shortly have his first run since moving from Andre Fabre’s stable to Newmarket-based Michael Jarvis.

Jockey Club Cup winner Royal And Regal will shortly have his first run since moving from Andre Fabre’s stable to Newmarket-based Michael Jarvis.

Owner Peter Savill has switched the four-year-old between two of Europe’s most respected trainers and he could either return in this month’s John Porter Stakes at Newbury or wait for the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup in mid-May.

“The Yorkshire Cup is certainly one of Royal And Regal’s targets,” said Jarvis.

“He came from France to me during the winter and he’s settled into things well and is coming along nicely.

“He’s obviously a nice horse and is in good form at home. He may have a prep run in the John Porter Stakes over a mile and a half prior to the Yorkshire Cup, but we’ll just have to see if he’s ready enough for that Newbury race.”
