Reveley keen on Ungaro chance

Ungaro is more likely to run in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown than take up his entry in the Grand National.

Ungaro is more likely to run in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown than take up his entry in the Grand National.

Keith Reveley’s nine-year-old has endured a frustrating season having finished second in the Sky Bet Chase to An Accordion and to Cloudy Lane in the Grimthorpe.

But as he would be 16lb better off with An Accordion in the Sandown event, who is the current 7-1 favourite with the sponsors, Reveley still believes he can land a big pot before the season is out.

“I haven’t had it confirmed yet, but as far as I know it is the Sandown race we are heading for,” said Reveley.

“We’ll have a chat with Barry Simpson (owner Sir Robert Ogden’s racing manager) but the last I heard it was Sandown.

“He did nothing wrong at Doncaster the first time, I probably ran him a little bit quick last time after his run before.

“He ran a really good race, but he didn’t travel through the race quite as well.

“There is a really good race in him, he’s a classy horse and when he’s right he travels and jumps well.”

Ungaro is a 12-1 chance with the sponsors for the Bet365 Gold Cup.
