Kingsbury buries Catterick rivals

Ferdy Murphy’s Kingsbury broke his maiden in the Racing UK Selling Hurdle at Catterick.

Ferdy Murphy’s Kingsbury broke his maiden in the Racing UK Selling Hurdle at Catterick.

Ridden by useful 7lb claimer Ewan Whillans, the nine-year-old got off the mark at the 14th time of asking.

There were plenty in with chances over the second-last but Kingsbury ran on well to beat 5-2 favourite Green Prospect by four lengths.

“He’s been disappointing,” Murphy’s assistant, Niall Hannity, said of the 4-1 chance.

“We don’t run too many in sellers as a rule.

“It was another good ride from Ewan, he wants to learn all the time.”
